Education
There are currently no educational tools that provide real time
visualization of veins.
Usually the learning process of developing
the feel for a vein is done with one student at a time and
one instructor. VuStik® improves
the current 1:1 student-teacher ratio by enabling the entire
class to see the demonstration.
In the past, the only way to demonstrate
vein location was to study anatomical pictures and then have
students apply tourniquets to fellow students. This is
a disadvantage because the students are feeling for a vein
with an ambiguous location.
With VuStik, the instructor can use a student volunteer and
go through the same process of applying the tourniquet and feeling
for a vein, but can then project a single student's instruction
on a large screen for the entire class. VuStik will be able to
differentiate speed of blood flow from vein to vein.
Being able to see the vein at the same time the student is developing
these skills will enhance and expedite the learning process.
Superficial venous patterns are like fingerprints - all are
unique to the individual. With VuStik, students learn from more
examples of atypical vein locations they cannot feel or visualize
with the unaided eye, but can detect clearly because of VuStik.
